Program Development Team
Tia Quinn, Founder & CEO
For more than 24 years, Tia Quinn has worked at all levels of programming in the field of after school and expanded learning, supporting out-of-school time programs throughout the nation via training, technical assistance, quality assurance, and program development.
Tia fell in love with after school programs in 1992 while working in Hartford, CT as an art teacher and later the Program Director in the Asylum Hill community. Tia spent the first part of her west coast experience working at an after school program and later as a Program Director, overseeing programming at 65 before and after school programs through Harmonium Children's Services, one of the largest after school providers in California. Tia also served for 5 years as the Co-Lead for Region 9 Technical Assistance Center, After School Programs at the San Diego County Office of Education. In this capacity, she supported over 600 after school program sites in San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties, serving over 100,000 students annually. While in this role, Tia managed numerous regional and statewide committees and after school initiatives.
In the regional lead capacity, Tia and her team were the 2005 recipients of the California School Board Association's Golden Bell Award for Partnerships and Collaboratives as well as the Cities, Counties, and Schools (CCS) Partnership Award 2005. Additionally, Tia is the recipient of the 2001 Director of the Year, awarded by Mentor San Diego; the California School-Age Consortium's 2006 Award of Excellence, Program Administrator of the Year; the 2013 STEVIE® Bronze Award for Women In Business, Female Executive of the Year – Business Services; the 2014 STEVIE® Bronze Award for Women In Business, Maverick of the Year; the 2014 STEVIE® Bronze Award for Women In Business, Most Innovative Company under 10 Employees; Finalist for Gamechanger at the 2015 Women of Influence Awards; winner of Eternal Flame Award, San Diego County Office of Education’s Women in Prevention; winner in the Small Education Category, San Diego Business Journal’s 2015 Most Admired CEO Award. BOOST Collaborative recently won 2015 Best in Biz’s Company of the Year, International award.
She serves on the Board of Directors for ASAPconnect, Santa Clara, CA and Think Red Project in San Diego, CA. Tia is also a member of Entrepreneur's Organizations' Accelerator program and is eagerly pursuing her mission and creativity to take her ideas and company to the next level.
As an Out-of-School Time Consultant, Tia presents customized workshops and staff development seminars at numerous local, state and national conferences. Tia works closely with school district administrators, CEO's, non-profit agencies, program directors, supervisors, and line staff to increase student retention, promote academic achievement, and overall student success through quality, engaging staff development opportunities.
Tia is currently the Founder and CEO of the BOOST (Best of Out-of-School Time) Collaborative, a purpose-driven organization supporting global out-of-school time professionals through state-of-the-art professional development opportunities, program and resource development, and community partnership advancement. BOOST advocates for quality out-of-school time programming, offers opportunities to share promising practices, and provides a variety of training and consulting services.
Tia is also the founder of the annual BOOST Conference in Palm Springs, California, the largest global convening for after school, expanded learning, and out-of-school time educators, supporting all levels of key stakeholders to initiate change and inspire quality programming. The BOOST conference includes over 150 workshops, 100 Exhibitors, Film Festival, 5-mile Tour de BOOST charity walk/run, Town Hall meetings, Master Classes, networking opportunities, and special events.
Most recently, Tia founded MARS (Music, Arts, Rhythm, Social Change) Experience bringing together socially responsible organizations, artists, musicians, crafters, filmmakers, authors, and poets to inspire and create action locally and globally.
Tia is passionate about creating positive change for today's youth as well as the people, communities, and partners supporting them in the out-of-school time hours. She mentors several young women, loves driving her electric golf cart around San Diego and is always seeking new travel and food adventures with friends.

Gabriela Delgado, Program Consultant
Gabriela B. Delgado has worked in education and served youth for over 18 years. She provides professional development training to school staff and community agencies on topics including student engagement; facilitation of support groups; parent involvement; restorative practices; adolescent female development and empowerment; trauma-informed practices; and crisis response.
Gabriela has a Master of Arts in Education/Counseling and Guidance with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master of Public Administration from San Diego State University. Gabriela is also an Adjunct Instructor for Azusa Pacific University’s Department of School Counseling and Psychology.
Outside of her work in education, Gabriela is a professional organizer. With her attention to detail and distinct ability to develop systems, she assists individuals and organizations to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Gabriela enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and having fun with her dog!

Chloe Dorworth, Program Manager
Born and raised in sunny San Diego, Chloe made the move to Fullerton in fall of 2013 to attend California State University, Fullerton to pursue a degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a minor in Religious Studies. Chloe and Tia, the BOOST CEO, met in 2012 when Tia became her mentor. It was an instant fit and Chloe came on as a part-time employee until her college graduation in 2017. She is now back in San Diego as a full-time member of the BOOST office team. With a passion for social work and connecting family, youth, and communities, BOOST was an obvious career choice for her. She spends her free time volunteering at a local church with their middle school and high school faith formation programs. In addition, she enjoys playing soccer, frolicking at Disneyland with her favorite Disney princesses, as well as spending time with friends and family. Chloe is ecstatic to work with BOOST to inspire youth, inspire learning, and inspire change.

Alicia Finch, Program Coordinator
Alicia was born and raised in San Diego before moving to Santa Barbara to attend school. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Communications and minor in Education. Alicia’s varied work experience has provided a solid foundation for working in the expanded learning field. She prides herself on her customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Alicia approaches her work from a people-centered perspective, building and maintaining relationships along the way. Alicia is passionate about education and creating an impact on today’s youth. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, her dog Sophie, and traveling the world. Alicia is thrilled at the opportunity to work at BOOST and help make a difference in out-of-school time programs.

Terri Ann Miller, Event Consultant
After completing her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management from San Diego State University, Terri worked many years in banking until she realized her true passion in event planning. So she enrolled back into San Diego State University to obtain her Meeting & Event Planning Certificate.
While back at school, she volunteered as an Event Coordinator for the Lakeside River Park Conservancy, the South Metro Career Center, and for a private event planner. But most notably, she volunteered as an Intern at BOOST Collaborative to assist with the 2012 BOOST Conference in Palm Springs. It was her experience with BOOST that solidified her desire to plan meetings and events. Since then, she has supported the BOOST Collaborative assisting with Operations and Event Consulting.
Terri also keeps busy working as a Hotel Catering Sales Manager and as an Event Coordinator for Mitzvah Event Productions. She is confident her career transition from banking to event planning was the right decision.

Andrea Seals Wilson, Exhibit & Sponsorship Account Manager
Andrea is originally from the Fresno, CA where she grew up and attended community college. It wasn’t until after she relocated to southern California to peruse a B.A. in Communications from UC San Diego that she discovered her passion for helping others and being an advocate for change. With a background in sales, she had the opportunity to assist in an after school program and chaired the special events committee of a local nonprofit organization which allowed her to realize she could combine her love for planning events and creating positive change.
Andrea joined the BOOST team in 2014 and was able to use her interests to support BOOST and support the process of creating enriching opportunities for the incredible professionals serving our youth in the out-of-time hours. After taking a short leave of absence to be home with her beautiful baby boy for the last year, she is grateful for the opportunity to continue working with BOOST, along with its stellar team of professionals.
When Andrea is not supporting BOOST exhibitors you’ll find her exploring the world with her one-year-old son, attending community events with her family, gardening and tackling Pinterest projects with her husband, Drew.

Suzy Reid, Events Assistant
Suzy’s passion is centered around advocating for children, education and strong communities, and creating a greater awareness around the needs of the underserved. She has been working or volunteering in the world of education and non-profits for over ten years. Much of her enthusiasm and support for afterschool programming stems from her work as the deputy director and grant writer of a Washington, DC-area non-profit and out-of-school time provider that provided wrap-around services for children from low-income families.
When her oldest child started kindergarten, Suzy began volunteering on the school’s governance council, which led to her serving as chair and site representative and eventually chair of the District Advisory Council for San Diego Unified, where the focus is equity, access, and parent engagement. There she helps train and educate other parents, coordinates presenters, and leads monthly meetings. She also serves as a site representative on the board of the Point Loma Cluster Schools Foundation where she previously served as president and currently performs the role of communications and outreach.
Suzy has a degree in sociology and communications and most recently worked as a researcher and freelance writer, writing about education and parent involvement. She’s worked with West Virginia Public Radio and C-SPAN Radio, and before that was a manager in the San Diego restaurant industry. In between volunteering, supporting educators and parents as an advocate, Suzy also enjoys Pilates, baking, and binging Netflix. She is thrilled to be working with BOOST, continuing to connect educators and families to resources that will educate, inspire and change lives.
Deanna Underwood, Communications Coordinator
Deanna is a San Diego native with a love for telling stories, making heartfelt social connections, and fostering youth empowerment. She has spent her days as an educator, and her evenings as a writer and digital influencer, and she is excited to combine them all in the Communications Coordinator role at BOOST!
Deanna attended San Diego State University, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Communication with a minor in Social Psychology in 2004, which ultimately prepared her for a professional career to understanding how to work with, and effectively communicate with others in any field. After working for a short time at SDSU with the incoming student population, starting a family, then as a preschool teacher, Deanna knew that working with youth and school-age students was what she enjoyed most. She spent 4 years in various K-12 classrooms in San Diego County as a substitute teacher, where she was able to see what students are learning at all grade levels and the range of amazing programs that are available for students at each school, as well as the needs of those that are lacking.
Deanna's love of digital media, social influencing, and storytelling led to launching her passion project Honey + Lime, a high-reach website where she shares all of her favorite travel destinations, educational projects, healthy recipes, parenting tips, and other fun activities for families. She has grown the website's digital footprint to 100k+ followers, with a combined blog and social reach of over 1 million annually. Connecting with others on social media, creative writing, creating engaging content, and sharing fun ideas with the community is what keeps the passion alive.
Deanna loves traveling with her family, experiencing new cultures, engaging in outdoor activities, trying new restaurants, and she enjoys attending local events, festivals, and seasonal activities. Joining TEAMBOOST means that Deanna gets to combine her love of digital influencing, storytelling, teaching, and youth leadership to promote educational initiatives, support professional growth for educators, and inspire a love for lifelong learning for optimal student success!

Katie Lorge, Marketing Consultant
Katie is a native San Diegan and the product of meaningful after-school opportunities. She likes to think of herself as a storyteller and sees language, images, and media as opportunities to connect and engage with other people.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in dance. Her varied professional experience in nonprofit development and marketing, customer service, arts and culture, and events have shaped her dynamic working style.
After college, Katie fulfilled a life-long dream when she moved to New York to pursue a career in dance. During her two-year tenure in NYC, Katie studied and performed with a number of choreographers and was an administrative intern with Faye Driscoll Dance Group. After her time on the east coast, Katie realized that San Diego really is as great as everyone told her when she was growing up and moved home.
In 2012, Katie helped produce the California Arts Council's first CREATE CA Conference and managed several events for conference attendees hosted at Coronado High School.
Katie also continued to work with a number of local choreographers as both a performer and presenter. Katie curated the series PARTICULAR PROPOSITION at Space 4 Art, which showcased local choreographers engaged in research and inquiry-based work. She also appeared in works with collaborative dance companies, most notably at youTurn with Odd & Even and the Without Walls festival with Wallpaper Performance Company at La Jolla Playhouse, in 2013.
When Katie was ready for a new phase of her working life in 2014, she committed to a full-time position in the nonprofit sector. Since then, she has held development and marketing roles at Mainly Mozart, the San Diego Armed Services YMCA, and A Reason To Survive (ARTS). At all three organizations, Katie was instrumental in database management, mobilizing fundraising campaigns, and implementing strategies for cross-department communication.
Katie is excited to continue her communications career at BOOST, where there is always something new to learn and do. Outside of working hours, Katie likes to try new restaurants, go swing dancing, watch Netflix, travel, and visit Disneyland.

Julia Gabor, Breakfast Club Blog Executive Chef
Julia is an award-winning educator. She is the grateful Co-Founder of kid-grit. kid-grit is a curriculum with a new, holistic approach to youth development which encompasses mindfulness, social and emotional learning, character education, digital and social media awareness, and finishes off with a project showing students mastery. She loves her role as the Executive Chef and Blog Manager at the BOOST Collaborative. Julia has spent the last 17+ years working with esteemed organizations such as the LA-All Stars, the Tiger Woods Foundation, and WRiTE BRAiN BOOKS.
In 2014, Julia was given the "Women Making a Difference" Award by U.S. Senator of California Lou Correa for her contributions in youth programming in Orange County, CA. In 2013, Julia received the OSTI award from BOOST for her contribution to out-of-school time individuals by providing innovative approaches to support students, families, and communities. She also was awarded the Honor and Educator award in 2012 from Cal State Fullerton.
In 2014- 2017, as Director of Education of WRiTE BRAiN BOOKS, Julia expanded and introduced the project based literacy curriculum into education communities across the nation. In only three years, during her service the company landed in 45 states and over 55k students will become published authors.
From 2006- 2014, Julia held several exciting positions at the Tiger Woods Foundation (TWF). She managed a mentor program for first-generation college students attending private and liberal art universities. Julia developed specialized programs within an activity-based curriculum in a variety of different educational areas. Julia also managed a national character education program called Tiger’s Action Plan (TAP). TAP served close to 10 million students from 2003-2009. TAP is a free youth development curriculum that focuses on leadership, goal setting, service learning, and career exploration. Prior to joining TWF, Julia was a Coordinator for the After-School All-Stars in Los Angeles, where she taught a range of middle school enrichment classes; from personal leadership and sports classes to performance and visual arts classes.
As a consultant, Julia designs, trains, and facilitates workshops for educators, small businesses, mentor programs, and students. She loves to create unique activity-based programs and implementation strategies for education communities that enhance student success and push students towards a productive and joyful future. Julia has been teaching/leading groups since she was a teenager working alongside her mother, who is a master acting teacher, and coach in the USA and Europe. Julia has served as a trainer/facilitator in disguised learning and cultural diversity throughout California. In 2009, She received the Honored Educator Award from Cal State Fullerton for dedication to education in the Orange County community.
Julia is a graduate of the State University of New York, Fredonia, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. She received her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Antioch University in 2012.

Wesley Doyle, Designer
Sir Wesley Doyle (30 November 1874 - 24 January 1965) was a British politician known chiefly for his leadership of the United Kingdom during World War II. He served as Prime Minister from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. A noted statesman and orator, Doyle was also an officer in the British Army, historian, writer, and artist. He is the only British Prime Minister who has ever received the Nobel Prize in Literature and only the second person to be made an Honorary Citizen of the United States.
During his army career, Doyle saw action in India, in the Sudan and the Second Boer War. He gained fame and notoriety as a war correspondent through contemporary books he wrote describing the campaigns. He also served briefly in the British Army on the Western Front in World War I, commanding the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
At the forefront of the political scene for almost fifty years, he held many political and cabinet positions. Before the First World War, he served as President of the Board of Trade, Home Secretary and First Lord of the Admiralty as part of the Asquith Liberal government. During the war, he continued as First Lord of the Admiralty until the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign caused his departure from government. He returned as Minister of Munitions, Secretary of State for War and Secretary of State for Air. In the interwar years, he served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Conservative government.

Dr. Alejandro "Alex" Gonzalez, Tech Master
Geek, nerd, techie, gizmo wiz, call him what you may, Alex loves technologies and empowering those around him in understanding their fun and practical applications. Alex aims at helping people learn how to use technology in ways that can improve their workflows and lifestyle. With a BS in Computer Networking and a second BS in Network Security, Alex's strong foundation in computer science has allowed him to work with multiple schools and organizations in a variety of technical roles. With an MA in Educational Technology, Alex uses his understanding of technology and pedagogy to help educators and organizations advance the integration of technology with curriculum while maintaining a focus on addressing critical student and content needs.
In his current role as Technology Coordinator at Health Sciences High and Middle College, Alex provides support in operations, professional development, and in designing, implementing, and maintaining the school's technical resources. Alex's experience has also led him to author literature and present around the country based on his experience, insight, and research in the field of educational technology. Alex brings to BOOST knowledge and experience that is balanced with experience in operational and educational practices.
In his spare time, Alex enjoys exploring the beautiful San Diego outdoors, and writing and playing music in his metal band Under the Stone.
