INOCENTE WHOO? A One-Woman Art Show

a-reason-to-survive

It is a BOOST tradition to kick off the annual conference by celebrating and giving back to an exemplary organization whose values match our own. This year we have chosen to highlight and honor the amazing and colorful work of ARTS—A Reason To Survive.

Join us poolside at the Hilton Hotel for a one-woman art show to kick off the BOOST Conference. Meet a remarkable young 16 year-old woman whose life has been turned in every direction and has emerged as a resilient leader and artist with the love, support and hope of friends, community and ARTS—A Reason to Survive.

InocenteMy name is Inocente. Life for me has never been normal.
When I was about 8 years old I was introduced to alcohol, drugs and abuse. My father beat me and beat who ever came close to him. One day he went over the top and my journey through shelters began. I feel confident in saying that I have been in about every shelter in San Diego.

I have been from place to place in the past 8 years and there's one thing that I have found throughout my path, and that thing was art. I knew I could draw but I never knew I could paint until a paintbrush was put in my hand. Art has gotten me so far in my life it's sometimes overwhelming.

Inocente-paintingArt has played a big part in who I have become. I was introduced to ARTS about 3 years ago and it has shaped my life completely. I have improved in all my art skills and I have made new friends (which to me is most important). I have accomplished so many things in the past 3 years that I have been here at ARTS and I have learned that my passion is art.
