Presented by Dr. Vincent Pompei, Director, Youth Well-Being Program, Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Washington, D.C.
Although we've made some progress toward LGBTQ equality, current data reveal serious challenges faced by LGBTQ youth, including high rates of rejection, bullying, and a lack of affirming support from educators and other youth-serving professionals. This pre-conference will cover the current state of LGBTQ youth, build cultural humility, and review best-practices and resources that make a positive difference. Interactive activities, opportunities to practices new skills, and time for small group discussion will be provided. If you desire to become an emerging expert and a stronger advocate for safe and inclusive environments for LGBTQ youth, this pre-conference is for you.
